RULES
The following rules are subject to change at any time. If anything confuses you, feel free to ask questions and share concerns via the cbox or help boards.
basic
One account per member, not character. You can easily manage multiple characters on one account, and it keeps from cluttering the site with an unnecessary amount of accounts.
Pokedollars are our currency here in Ivy, but don't get confused! Each member has a given amount of Pokedollars that only a staff member can add to and take from. Separate characters do not have their own money; rather, as the member purchases things for their characters throughout the site it will be taken from their account and as they earn it via events, promos, etc; it will be added to. This is to ensure that nobody will lie about how much money they have. It keeps things fair.
When you have posted in your journey and need a mod to update it, post in our Update Request Thread in "Plotting" in the Character Category. This is so we can easily keep track of who needs updating without losing track of threads, and we can easily go about completing them in order of First Come, First Serve.
As you may have noticed, the routes do not make it clear as to which pokemon you can encounter there. The types you may encounter there are based entirely on the setting of the route. In the Grassy Plains, for instance, grass-types and bug-types are most common. Pokemon that are considered rare through the region are Ice Types, and while Fire Types aren't necessarily rare they are considered uncommon. When you post on a route, feel free to request a certain type of pokemon ooc,and us mods will do our best.
profile guide
When changing your avatar, please link to it, do not upload it. Uploading it will change it to the proboards default, which is far too small. To keep things neat, link to a 220x350 image for your avatar.
You may put anything as your 'status'. It will appear as text at the bottom of your mini-profile when hovered.
If you would like a fancy gif to appear when you hover over your avatar, simply put a direct link to one that is 200x100 in the appropriate place when editing your profile.
If you'd like to add a pokemon sprite to your mini profile, we suggest checking out this site. Simply type in the pokemon you want in the top search bar, click 'sprites', and choose one!
Whatever you put in the 'Alias' text box will appear when you hover over your mini profile and it says "User is online". User will be replaced with the alias you have chosen, but it has no character limit so just be thoughtful of not making it too long.
characters
There is no limit to how many characters you may have. All we ask is that you try to keep each relatively active, and that you only post a sing character app at a time. Once it is accepted you may post another.
Once your first character has been accepted, you will be promoted from 'New Member' to 'Member' and awarded 2,500 PD.
You must have a PC for each of your characters, and this PC must be linked in your signature. Your journey threads will not be modded until there is a PC available.
While you must be sure to include an inventory in your PC, it will be EMPTY when your character is first created. Your character may not start with any pokeballs, potions, berries, or anything else that will assist them on their journey. They will receive a starter pack after passing through the Pokemon Laboratory.
A character's journey must go in linear order! This means that they must start at the Pokemon Lab to achieve their starter, progress to route one, then Celestine Town, then route two, and so on and so forth.
Multi-character travel is allowed. Multiple people may participate in a single journey thread; however, a consistent posting order must be in place.
roleplaying
I don't think I need to state that godmodding and powerplaying are both entirely against the rules, and I definitely shouldn't have to explain why. But for clarification, until a Pokemon officially belongs to your character and has been caught by them, it is technically an NPC and shall be controlled by the mod. Once it is caught, it is free to be played by you however you wish, just try to stay with the general personality of the creature as already established by whoever spawned it.
I will not establish an official word limit; however, if a moderator finds themselves incapable of forming a response to your post because it is not long enough and they don't have enough to work with, they are allowed and encouraged to notify you and politely ask that you lengthen the post before they respond. It's easier on the mods if we have something to work with, which will only benefit you and your character's journey in the end.
During battles, pokemon cannot gain levels! Levels will be awarded at the end of battle by a staff member. If your pokemon gains a level elsewhere and you are in the middle of a battle, do not add the levels in that thread until the battle is over.
Each character is allowed up to six pokemon in their party, and each pokemon may learn up to eight moves. Shiny Pokemon are special "prized" pokemon that will not be encountered during a journey but instead given away during certain events and promos. There is "no such thing" as Mega Evolution in Ivy Region, which means it simply has not been discovered because Ivy herself is a permanent Mega Evolution of Absol. Mega Evolution Pokemon are EXTREMELY rare and will NEVER be encountered during a journey unless an ADMIN spawns one as an NPC. They will never be captured.
Each city will have a task for you to complete in order to continue on. If you are a trainer, there will be a gym. If you are a ranger, there will be a task. If you are neither, whatever instance takes place will be based on your character's personality.
Gym leaders will have pokemon with no specific level! The levels of the pokemon in the Gym Leader's possession will be determined entirely by the average levels of your character's team when challenging that particular gym.
